YOU GUYS.......................... it's supposed to be 108 tomorrow! did you hear that? onehundredandeightdegrees. i mean what in the!??! this is not okay. on any level. remember that post about me kind of, sort of liking summer. yeah.... SCRATCH that! luckily, the people around here say this is very abnormal. not sure if i believe them. they say it only gets that hot in august. oh, august. phew. that was a close one. NOT. because august is still in the near future. okay, i will stop ranting now. thank you, sweet Lord, for AC. i know i am so much better off than most of the world. you are good to me.
anyhow... life these days... what's been goin on... well, audrey and finley are both on the up and up. seem to be basically back to normal. i am so grateful. little audrey girl is becoming quite clever. she's learning she can fight back. oh, Lord, help me. when finley takes something or yells, "NO AUDA" she yells back. oh yes. or she grabs back. and let me tell you, she's not weak. she gives finley a tough fight. i mean, i'm not surprised knowing that one, but it's pretty funny to watch. i'm in for it, though. those two. i tell ya, at the end of everyday, i am ready to sit on my bootay and do NOTHING!!! mom, i now know why nap time was your "alone, quite place". i understand.
jake works every wedding you know, but tomorrow, i'm actually gonna work it! say what!? yeah, i'm pretty excited about it. it's a day wedding from 11-4. i'll go in once lunch is being served and work away. it'll be nice to kinda see what goes on and how everything works. oh yeah. it's going to be 108 degrees!!!!!! YOWZA! luckily, the barn is AC'ed and we shouldn't need to go outside much. i'll let ya know how it goes.
our visitors have been gone for almost a week now. it's quiet in the evenings. i sure love hosting people. and i really love cooking for people. i've known this, but since we moved here, and don't have a plethora of people to cook for, i miss it. and when i do get to cook for people, i am happy. i also really love baking cookies, and cleaning my house. i spent a big chunk of the day yesterday deep cleaning and it felt so good. OH yeah! i really genuinely enjoy cleaning my home, and i am so so thankful i have one to clean.
got the wheels in my head turning for some crafty crafts to do around here. just gotta get on it. i just re-read this post, and it is quite boring.... so if you made it this far, my many congratulations and salutations. or something like that. you rock, basically.
well, hubby's gonna be gone late at the wedding, so i'm catching up on some bachelorette! LOVE it. i know, it's so bad, it's good. watch it.

recap
goodness gracious, y'all. these 2 weeks have flown right by. jared and ashton and roman are leaving tomorrow :( sad day. it's been great having them here for so long. and it's gone by so fast. and i feel like i kind of forgot about a lot of my routines, like when i'm on vacation or something. anyhow, just wanted to say hello.
i wanted to tell you guys about how the college group went last week. it's called DEEP. it's a college/young adult ministry that's existed for about 4 years. it is all about discipleship and service. the people we met were all so friendly and welcoming (southern hospitality for sure :)). we really enjoyed being there. it went from like 6-11.... we are OLD! and were sooo tired by 10 pm! ha! we sang worship, heard a little meeting where they talked about a mission trip they're going on, and then studied part of Psalm 119. it was so refreshing to be in that environment and jake and i both enjoyed being there. the girls did find another house to meet at, but it is pretty far away from most girls in the group.... so we'll see if it would work out to eventually have it here. i'm hoping to meet with the lady who started the group and see what the needs of the group are and how jake and i can serve, etc. so... we'll see.
what else has been going on? hmm...
audrey is in the running for the longest runny nose ever. day 8. i called for a doc appt. today, but the only one they had was right in the middle of naptime and i just didn't want to wake her. so, if she's still miserable on monday, i will get our booty's into that office. just wonder if she's got an ear infection or something else going on.
we went to the pool at the Y the other day and it was SO much fun! whoa, who knew?! ha! i've always hated summer... bring the rain and sweaters anyday.... but, there are some summer perks. and i'm growing to like them. it really is so fun with kids. both kids loved the pool and i see us going all the time as the temps are always in the 90's already... oh sheesh, remind me of this post when i've turned into liquid in august.
jake and i took advantage of the live in babysitters here last night and went and saw the avengers. maybe i'm weird, but i just love comic book/super hero movies. just love em. so i really enjoyed it. and the movie theater is a magical place for me! haha! it's so dark and there are no small children... typically. i just love going to movies. we don't go often. so when we go it's certainly a treat for me.
i've been watching felicity on netflix! makes me think of my sister katie! haha! but i'm really into it. me and ashton watch during naptime! ha! oh, netflix. it has serious power over people. that's a whole other post.
one more thing i've been thinking of:

quite the day
okay y'all. ready for another unbelievable kid story? i thought so.
so yesterday was father's day! yay! happy day to my wonderful husband/baby daddy who is my other half and i love so very much. and to my dad, and stepdad! gotta love dads.
anyway, for said father's day, joy, ashton and i gave our husbands the gift of the day off and they went and played disc golf. i mean, what a gift! they love being together and throwing frisbees at trees, and it was a free gift, so everybody wins.
exceeeeeept for maybe.... me. hahahaha! let me tell you what happened on this sunday afternoon unlike any other. my dear, sweet, non-dramatic whatsoever daughter, audrey, has had a cold. and yesterday she simply felt miserable. and i felt so bad for her. her eyes were all puffy, snotting (is that a verb) constantly, and a fever. booooo, audrey. she took a very short, short nap. finley did not sleep either, and i for some reason let him have a little bit of mountain dew. please, tell me NEVER to give my 2 year old mtn. dew EVER again. but i mean, it was really only a little bit.....
nap time, if you can call it that, was over. i planned on making choco chip cookies for our father's day dessert and i knew with sick audrey at my feet i could get nothing done. so, i had the bright idea to put her high chair outside and sit her there with a popsicle . i can leave the back door open and see right outside from the kitchen so it was safe, of course. finley was being oh, so helpful in the making cookies endeavor. he was even pouring out my whole box of baking soda onto the counter and mixing the flour, sugar, and brown sugar in my canisters. what a guy. i can rent him out if you need a helper.
audrey is intermittently crying/drooling/covering herself in popsicle. i managed to get one batch of cookies in the oven. finley realizes the door of freedom is open and he runs outside. audrey is no longer content in her high chair so i move her to the swing set where there is a baby swing. that lasts about 2 minutes. but in those 2 minutes, finley pulls out the kiddie pool... well, rolls it over and asks to get in. for some reason, i think this is a great idea... audrey is one life-sized red popsicle and i sure don't want to touch her so i'll just put em both in the pool. great. except, when audrey is perfectly healthy she HATES the kiddie pool. and in case you were wondering, when she's sick, she REALLY hates the kiddie pool. i had the hose on filling it up and audrey was going no where near the thing. finley is in heaven and has already taken his clothes and diaper off. audrey won't get off my hip and is clinging for dear life. like i said, she's soooo sticky and now dirt is sticking to her. she's screaming and so miserable. so then i think, i'll go put her in the bath without water for a sec. i run her inside and set her in the bath so i can go get finley inside. as i'm walking back out, i hear a thump, and then her cry is getting louder as i realize she jumped out of the tub and is walking towards the back door. i have to tear finley away from his ultimate happiness, which did not go over well. drag him inside, lock the door. meanwhile the cookie timer has been going off for far too long so i get those out. go back to getting audrey in the bath. i hear the chair moving sound in the kitchen and i know it's gotta be finley. i get audrey clean in record time, pull her out of the bath, and run to see what finley's into. he's gotten all the cookies down off the counter and put them on the kitchen table and it sitting on top of the table eating them. he's still naked, bytheway, and he says, "hey, mama, hey! cooodies!" (cookies). i mean, how could i be mad about that?!? but i take the cookies away, again, ripping away his ultimate happiness. what a mom. audrey is walking around naked, crying miserably. she peed on the carpet. i get her dressed. snuggle her some. finley is running around the house like a crazy person (note the mtn. dew). the cookie timer goes off again! who's idea was it to make cookies!?!? i really want audrey to eat some food, but remember that nasty, sticky high chair outside? so i decide to give them grilled cheese and green beans on the floor of the living room. leaving the green bean can out. oops. those get all over as finley pours them back and forth from bowl to can.
i was sweating. i was overwhelmed. i just sat down. watched backyardigans. and took a deep breath. we made it. the rest of the night was still crazy, but the moment of insanity had passed. how thankful i was.
needless to say, when jake walked in the door, i was very, very grateful my kids have a father and i have a partner. and i was glad he had a great time with his brothers.
i slept really good last night.

coooookies
hey there. not much to report around here, really. just thought i'd drop in. jared (jake's little brother), his wife, and their 4 month old roman are here. it has been fun! roman is a sweet, sweet little boy. i've enjoyed having a "real" baby in the house. ha!
audrey is walking all over town and back. she's everywhere! and she's saying "moooommy" and waving bye bye. she's just the best of the best, that girl.
finley's talking up a storm and being his wonderful self.
jake's had a couple days off and is seeming refreshed. so good.
me... well, just doing my mom/wife thing. jake and i did do something cool at church yesterday. we met some college/young adult students who have a small group and i think we are going to start helping out! i would just love if college girls came over to my house and i could bake for them and hear about their lives. and get this.... the girls actually need at a house to meet at right now. and guess who is homebound with sleeping babies in the evenings.... WE ARE! so, it seems hopeful. i'm excited to check it out. they have a mixed group meeting on thursday nights and then on mondays they break into boys and girls groups and meet separately. since jared and ashton are here this week, we're gonna go to the big group on thursday and just check it out. you could pray for this. we really want to get involved and would love to use what we have to serve... which right now seems like an open house and our free weeknights. which seems to be a good fit. so, we'll see.
i literally just pulled out of the oven some interesting cookies.... they are lemon, blueberry, cream cheese cookies. yikes!! i'm excited to try them.... ooh la, la.

listy
life update in list form...
- audrey officially walks. she barely took any steps and then a couple days ago, just started toddling along. she's such an all or nothing kind of girl.
- whenever audrey "gets in finley's way" or is not cooperating with him and he might push her or yell "NO AUDA!" and i get onto him, he's figured out saying, "you otay, auda, you otay." makes is all okay. ha!
- we have guests coming on sunday! hooray! jared, ashton, and baby roman are going to come for a visit. i am excited because i have not met little roman yet. i love having a houseful (just like my mom).
- jake and i have "porch time" out on our front porch in our adirondack chairs and it's a sweet time for us.
- i have been eating lots of vegetables lately.
- my silly job at callsource is such a blessing for our family.
- i've become obsessed with string lights and want them in like every room of our house. overkill, maybe.
- when we ask finley something, he started answering, "oh sure". "finley, do you want lunch?" "oh sure". it's cute.
- finley has learned the magic of pulling a chair up to whatever he can't reach. it's a lovely phase. his newest thing is making "homey" sandwiches. he asks for peanut butter and honey basically every meal. he pulls a chair up to the counter and loves squeezing the honey and spreading it.
- today is jake's day off and i think we're gonna do something fun! don't know what, yet. but i know the suspense will kill you.
- last, but definitely NOT least...... drumroll please..... no i'm not pregnant! haha! but.... i did finally finish my fruit of the spirit project!!!!
the picture quality isn't the greatest, but there ya have it. adds some color to the walls and a wonderful reminder of my attitute, mind, and heart.

what we've been up to lately.
it's already hot here. it's been in the 90's everyday. our days are full of playing in the kiddie pool, going to shaded parks, lots of icees, and fun date nights! audrey is taking more and more steps and will be a full blown walker anyday now. finley's rockin his "summer hair-do". it's only going to get hotter and i am THANKFUL for central air conditioning!
